Llilanfels emanates a sort of old-world charm that never gets… well, old. Half way between a lodge and a hotel, it is nestled in the perfect position to admire the breathtaking and majestic Blue Mountains of New South Wales, and is surrounded by beautiful, lush gardens and terraces…

An evening arrival could not be more fitting for Phuket resort, Twinpalms. A gorgeous, open foyer with a peaked roof greets you at the entrance and so begins the beginning of what I can guarantee will be a memorable stay at this Small Luxury Hotel of the World. Low-lit lighting works in absolute synergy with the beautiful design, all wood and warmth – perfect for the tropics. In what seems to always be the case in Thailand, the staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, and this is evident straight off the bat. They ask us to rest on one of the comfortable seats in the foyer before bringing us a complementary welcome cocktail… they had me at “hello”, and yet to top it all off we find out they have upgraded us… I’m never leaving.

A one-of-a-kind destination. The Racha is on the small island of Koh Racha Yai, one of the Andaman Seas’s most beautiful islands and is accessibly only by sea – a James Bond-esque 30 minute speedboat trip from Phuket, arranged by the resort and exclusive to Racha guests. You are welcomed by Racha staff, and asked to select your favourite from three beautiful fragrances, which will become the scent that will be used in all of the bathroom products in your room at The Racha…

Grandiose. The Fairmont in Singapore is big, to state the obvious. This is apparent from the moment the bellhop unloads your bags to when the doorman ushers you inside the high ceilinged and confidently decorated foyer. It’s a true hotel, a hotel in the traditional sense of the word, and the Fairmont does it well, with the Singapore branch having undergone an impressive renovation where no expense has been spared…

From the moment you drive through the gates of Huka lodge you are aware that you are in an extremely unique and special place in the world. The grounds are immaculate. The level of luxury that is instantly apparent is indescribable. Huka Lodge is not your run-of-the-mill five star experience (in any 5 star experience can be call run of the mill). This nook of New Zealand is unimaginably serene and tranquil. It’s like a secret garden reserved just for you and your guests, and no one would ever know that it was there amongst the tourist traps of Taupo and its famous lake…
