Every year at around the same time that the air suddenly becomes crisper and the evenings arrive sooner, a ray of light arrives in Sydney to brighten the city’s mood – Vivid Festival. The spectacular three-week festival of light, music and ideas has become one of the harbour city’s most highly anticipated events of the year, and for good reason.

Vivid Festival is a true spectacle, and it’s not only light installations happening around town. As well as seeing some crazy, colourful shapes on the Opera house and the Harbour Bridge lit up like it’s New Year, there are also amazing speakers, music concerts and dining experiences to lap up.

This is where luxury experience curator Lime & Tonic’s Secret Laneway Dinner series comes in, and before you ask – yes, I know the location, and no, I’m not telling you what it is!

I was lucky enough to attend the first Secret Laneway Dinner of the season at Vivid’s opening night, and let me tell you – the whole evening was a blast.

Starting with a treasure hunt-style map to the secret location that’s delivered to your inbox a few days before the event, your night begins with nothing but the map and your own sense of direction (ahem, Google Maps) to get you to your final destination. While I won’t tell you what or where it is, I can tell you you won’t be disappointed!

The four-course meal  served up in your private laneway is delicious, made all the better by the matching wines provided by Hunter Valley winery, Bimbadgen Estate. The whole degustation is seriously delicious, and the ambience is just as impressive thanks to the live music and fairy lights that make you feel like you’re in your own little winter wonderland.

To finish the evening off with a bang, you’ll get to witness the mind-blowing display of Sydney Harbour lit up in all its glory from one of the best seats in the house, 31 floors up, cocktail in hand.

Lime & Tonic has two other Secret Laneway Dinners scheduled during Vivid Festival on 9th and 10th June, but be quick because they sell out quickly!
